WHAT IS YOGA?

It’s a huge question, which can be answered in many different ways. However, if you attend my Yoga classes, you will experience it from my perspective...
.

I believe that Yoga helps develop a positive, relaxed approach to everyday life and an overall sense of well-being. It can increase your fitness, reduce your stress, strengthen your body and optimise your health. I have benefitted from all of these, since starting my own Yoga practice in 2017.
.

It’s a myth that Yoga requires good flexibility, a β€˜spiritual mind’ or years of experience. The beauty of Yoga is that it offers benefits and β€˜asanas’ (postures) for every shape, age and body type. As our bodies begin to show the signs of daily wear and tear, Yoga can be the ideal exercise. Low impact and non-competitive. Invigorating rather than exhausting. The ancient discipline of Yoga can be practised at any time of life by men and women.
.

My YOGA classes follow the β€˜Hatha’ method of practice and are generally less spiritual than many Yoga classes. However, there is always a β€˜mind’ aspect to them, with various relaxation techniques included.
.

Come and experience it with me!

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Pilates called his method "Contrology". It is practiced worldwide, especially in Western countries such as Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
.

Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing and a strong core, as well as improving co-ordination and balance. Incorporating relaxation elements, this slow, but very effective, method makes it perfect for beginners of all ages.
.

SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF PILATES…
.

Β· Improved posture

Β· Stronger core muscles

Β· Greater joint stability and mobility

Β· Increased flexibility

Β· Helps to manage stress

Β· Reduced lower back pain

Β· Improves techniques for exercise performance

Β· Protection from injury

Β· Improved co-ordination

Β· Stronger pelvic floor
.

β€œContrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit” [~Joseph Pilates~]
